This is when it all started...

I don't have many memories of my childhood... whenever my sister tells an old story about when we were kids she says 'do you remember?' and I say 'no...'. It's true, I don't remember many things...

However, my earliest memory probably is when I fell and cut my forehead, when I was about 3 or 4, who knows... My sister, some circumstantial friends and I were playing... they didn't want me to play because I was too little, but I didn't mind and I followed them anyway. They were playing hide and seek, and I wanted to play so I tried to. Unfortunately, it was late at night and I couldn't see well, besides having the characteristic clumsiness of a 3-year-old. I remember I tripped with one of the steps of the staircase and fell down, hitting my forehead with the edge of the step. I don't remember more from that part, my next 'memory' of that occasion is me crying in the bathroom, somebody was holding me so I could see my bloody face in the mirror. That was scary!

I remember my whole face covered with blood and me crying and stuff. And the next thing I remember is me in a van, covered with a blanket being taken to hospital, then at hospital waiting to be treated and finally being completely covered with a white sheet that only had a hole that was placed on my forehead and me kicking and screaming and that. That's the end of it. I don't remember anything else from that point that night... I don't remember when they finished suturing my forehead, nothing. I think they may have given me a shot of anaesthetic or something, because I think I fell asleep... I remeber they grabbing me, wrapping me in that white sheet and the end. Nothing else, so I'm sure they gave me something so I could sleep and they could finish their work...

Do you have any childhood memories? I bet you do! I want you to tell me what you remember from when you were a child. It could be a nice memory, an embarrassing memory, a painful memory or your earliest memory, like in my case. Any memory you'd like to write about is welcome :)

In your post you can include:

- How old you were
- When it took place
- What happened exactly
- Why you think that memory is worth mentioning
- etc.

This time you'll have to write about 300 words on the topic.
Don't forget to leave comments on your classmates' posts ;)
And try to include an image or something catchy to decorate your post :)

Now, let's begin!

On The Big Screen (or the small one)

There are many films that I like, so I really couldn't choose one. I could mention the first movie I saw that made me feel something different from what I had ever experienced watching films, though.

It is probably kind of cliché, but I was about 10 or 11 years old which means I was allowed to feel things with cliché stuff. My 'first' film (which is not really the first movie I saw, but it is the first one I loved) is called Cinema Paradiso (1988), by Giuseppe Tornatore, with Philippe Noiret (heart). I remember I watched it one night on channel 13, when the rest of my sisters where at my parents' bedroom watching something else with them. I remember they used to show that film on TV everey year and I had never felt the need to watch it before, but that year it was different.

When I was watching that film I realised movies could make me feel things I had never experienced before. I loved the story, even when it's a very common concept to explore and it's been done many times in film history up to these days.

This is the typical story about an adult and a child and how this adult influences and changes this kid's life. I remember I cried my eyes out! I loved it so much. I loved what this cinema meant to the people who lived in this village, how they showed it as a place with a history, where different events that where part of the history of the village took place. I still love that story, to be honest. It makes me feel something deep inside my stomach which always ends up making me cry. But it's a different kind of crying; it's a mix of happiness, and melancholy for something I have never experienced. Probably that's the reason why I like this movie so much, because it made me realise movies were more than a story on a screen, as they can also be something you cannot even name, deep inside your stomach that gives you the goosebumps.

Well, this week you'll have to write about Movies. It can be your favourite movie, a movie yoy hate or the last movie you saw...

Whatever movie/film it is you have to remember to:

- Leave a comment on 3 of your classmates posts
- Write: about 280 words
- Include a photo/video/visual thingie.

I'll be around!!

Good luck!

Strike the Pose

I love this photo. I don't think I look very good in it with that kiss face, but I like the way my hair looks xD!! (I'm so deep!).

This photo was taken in 2009 at University. That year I was studying Education here in Juan Gomez Millas, where I met my boyfriend (in the photo, of course). It was taken when he was arriving university from his teacher training.
I was waiting for him on the second floor ('first floor' BrEnglish), he came upstairs and we kissed exaclty when a friend was fooling around with her brand new camera aiming at us. All of us classmates agreed it was a great photo, because it was taken out of the blue and we were kissing and it was oh-so-romantic. But what I really like about it is my hair. That's why I have it framed in my bedroom, not because we're kissing, not because he's the best boyfriend ever and I love him and all that corny stuff, no! Because my hair looks purrrfect! OK? I'm too cool for love! (LIE!!)

Now for the instructions...

Today's task:

You have to show us a photo you like.

You can mention:

- Who took it
- What it shows
- When it was taken
- Why you like it
- Any other information you think is important.

Write at least 280 words.

Add comments to at least 3 of your classmates’ blogs

And... DON'T USE THE TRANSLATOR!!!!!!! :P

Music is my Radar

Music means a lot to me. If it weren't for music I wouldn't be here writing in English, I wouldn't be the person I am... Who knows where I would be if I hadn't discovered music 16 years ago.

When I first started listening to the music I like now I was 13 years old. Back then I discovered my first favourite band, and they are still one of my faves. I remember I used to listen to them every morning and, as we only had one radio at home, everyone was obliged to listen to them too. That's the reason why my parents and sisters at home know them so well and like them too, even when back then they used to complain because I would take over the radio and wouldn't let anyone else listen to other music at all. They hated me, but I didn't mind.

Anyway, I guess you voted 'music' because it means something to you too, so that's what this week's post is going to be about.

What you have to do is write about Music and how it affects your life.

You could mention:

- What music means to you.
- When you first started listening to the music you like.
- Why you like it/What it makes you feel.
- Your favourite band/musician/singer/album/genre.
- Who first introduced you to your favourite band/singer.
- etc...

In this post you MUST:
- Write 120-150 words.
- Include a photo or video of your favourite band/singer/musician.
- Comment on 3 of your classmates' posts.

Head Music

I love technology.

Seriously! When I was little I liked Barbies and then, when I probably should have started liking clothes, handbags and shoes, something happened and I started liking technology. I don't think it has anything to do with the school I entered, but it mostly has to do with the fact that I like music, films and the like, instead of looking pretty... or tidy... (I know it's silly, but I'm just trying to find a reason here, I'm no specialist, OK?)

As I was saying, I love technology. Whenever I buy something new my father tells me to wear it when it's cold (as a way of saying I should have bought clothes instead). And I think he's right (unfortunately), because I haven't got any nice clothes to wear to work (I'm always waiting for my superiors to complain about the things I wear... though I think we should be allowed to wear trainers and our regular clothes to work instead of wearing customes which make us look even older -gosh! I'm 29!!!)...

Well, the last thing I bought was a hi-fi system some months ago. I had to do it, because the latest black-out ruined the one I had bought with my PAE 10 years ago (don't tell the social worker at Filosofía I said this), but my favourite piece of technology has to be my iPod. It's so snob! But I always wanted to have one and now I have it and I can even play solitario on it. I hate solitario, but I love my iPod so I play it anyway because it's in it. And the iPod is so cool! It makes playlists with the songs I like most, which is like the coolest thing ever, because the mp3 player I used to have, said it did the same thing but in the end it played songs I didn't even know why I put in it in the first place...

This week you have to write about your favourite piece of technology. If you don't like technology you could tell us why (because you have to write something whether you want it or not).

You have to mention:

- What it is.
- When you got it.
- How you use it.
- How often you use it.
- Why you like it.
- What life would be like without it.

* 200 words minimum.
* Include a picture.
* Comment on at least 3 of your classmates’ blogs.

Strange Things

Hi all! Thanks for coming to class instead of travelling somewhere nicer and far ;)

Today we have a very interesting and original topic to write about. This is one of the ones you chose yourselves the other day when we voted, remember?

Today's topic is: Something Peculiar!!

Now, for writing this topic we'll all have to help each other by suggesting places on the Internet where we can find peculiar things to write about. I remember Simonkey said he knew a website, but I forgot to write the name down (merf!) so I really hope you are in class today Simonkey!!! Because this is your fault!!!!! (kidding! we love the topic, don't we?)

I found a couple of websites with peculiar photos to write about:

http://ffffound.com/
http://www.soygik.com/fotografia-increible/
http://www.fayerwayer.com/2011/01/aficionados-descubren-increibles-fotos-espaciales-en-archivo-de-la-eso/
http://chileantroll.tumblr.com/
http://listverse.com/

OK, maybe they're not THAT peculiar, but you can write about them anyway... and of course, you can also write about peculiar pieces of news/facts you've heard/seen, whatever peculiar comes to your mind, whatever you already know... For example, I wanted to write about that chicken head that appeared in some McNuggets, but then I thought it could be disgusting so I censored myself...

And REMEMBER:

- Write at least 200 words.
- Post comments on 3 of your classmates blog entries.

I'll be around!
